Training Policy-Makers

One example of a training program for senior officials, and the way it can be incorporated into a broader ICT for development and e-Government project, can be found the E-Lanka Development Project. Started in 2004, this is a comprehensive ICT development project with three focal points, one of which is e-Government. The subcomponents of the project include an ICT Policy, Leadership and Institutional Development.

Training Managers

The e-Government Champions Training Program in India provides an intensive training program for managers. This program consists of a 14-week course that provides middle-level managers from provincial and central government departments with training so that they can conceptualize e-Government projects in a holistic manner. Typical issues that are addressed include how to define the services to be provided to various stakeholders, how to initiate and lead process reform, how to build a business model for a project, how to share infrastructure and applications with other agencies, and how to champion the development and implementation of a program.

Training Civil Servants

The Public Window program in Peru, designed to increases the capacity of local government organizations through e-Government tools, includes a strong training component.  (Project Story: Peru) (Spanish - Ventana de la Sociedad Civil)
